My teaching methods have been refined over years of practical tutoring. There is the choice to learn repertoire ranging from your favourite classical composers to current chart favourites. I also teach ABRSM music theory, and help prepare students for their GCSE music performance.
Lessons can also incorporate history of music and composition. I offer examinations using The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and Trinity College.
I teach children from 5 years and onwards, from beginners to advanced. I teach children using a variety of styles, assessing whether they learn visually, aurally or kinaesthetically. I then choose a method best suited to them. Progression and enjoyment of lessons are of paramount importance, and can encompass games/flashcards, duets, aural skills, composition and music theory. A practice chart is given to the the student, and once they have filled it with reward stickers, a practice reward certificate is given.
For teenagers and adults, the lessons are tailored to your individual goals and requirements. Whatever your interests or ability, I will help you to achieve your goals. Age is no limitation! My current oldest pupil is 73 and preparing for her grade 3 exam…
I prepare students for practical and theory exams using leading examination boards such as The Associated School of the Royal School of Music, and Trinity College. From grades 6-8, all exams carry UCAS points. It is entirely the the choice of the student if they would like to take an exam. I also help in preparing students for GCSE performance.
